Questions/Résponses sur les voyages en Mont-Blanc

Tours around the Mont Blanc massif are available from early June to late September. The classic version of the Tour du Mont Blanc lasts 7 days, the full version 9 days. To be sure that the refuges are open, and to increase the chances of good weather and no snowfall, it's best to choose the period from late June to early September. At the end of August, the Mont-Blanc massif comes alive with the international Mont-Blanc Ultra-trail sporting event. This can make it difficult to complete the tour, but the Chamonix valley is particularly busy, which can be pleasant. But if you're looking for peace and quiet, avoid this period. July 15 to August 15 is the most pleasant time, with long, often sunny days that leave more time to enjoy the stages. It's also the liveliest period, with villages more open than ever.

Hiking around Mont Blanc offers magnificent Alpine balcony trails. The Tour du Mont Blanc loops the massif through three countries: France, Switzerland and Italy. The 170 km, 10,000-meter-high Tour du Mont Blanc hiking trail (GR TMB) offers splendid scenery, from alpine meadows to glaciers, valleys and passes. Breathtaking panoramas, some of the most beautiful mountain scenery in Europe, from the Trient glacier in the north to the Beaufortain pastures in the south. On the first stage of the Tour du Mont Blanc, the Aiguilles Rouges balcony around Lac Blanc is one of the trek's most famous viewpoints. Then comes the Col de Balme, the gateway between France and Switzerland. The major cols follow one another at the pace of the stages: the fenêtre d'Arpette (2664 m), the grand col Ferret (2539 m) crossing from Switzerland to Italy, the col de la Seigne (2516 m) crossing from Italy to France, the col du Bonhomme (2329 m), the col de Tricot (2120 m) and the col des Fours (2665 m), the highest on the Tour du Mont Blanc. From these passes and along the balcony paths, you can contemplate the massif's legendary peaks: Mont Blanc (4808 m), of course, but also Mont Dolent (3810 m), the Grandes Jorasses (4208 m), the Dent du Géant (4013 m) and the Aiguille du Midi (3842 m).
